We arrived at the Atlanta Airport right on time at around 6:15am this morning. It was a pretty uneventful flight except for the fact that I can’t sleep on planes. Fortunately, Lorna can and she was able to get some winks in.
After collecting our bags at baggage claim (this being one of the busiest airports in the world there were lots of people everywhere despite the early hour) we headed over to Avis to pick up our car rental.

After a 1/2 hour wait in line, we finally reached one of the 3 rental agents on duty at that time. She was very nice but told me that we could’ve gone directly to the rental car area as I’d signed up for their club that speeds the process up. Live and learn!
The first car that was assigned to us was old and didn’t have up to date tech so we decided to request a newer vehicle since we’d be driving it for 3 weeks on this vacation.

Nice car with good tech, quiet and smooth.
We started the two hour drive towards Anderson, South Carolina where our Airbnb was located. The host was kind enough to allow us early access as we knew that we’d want to take a nap as soon as we got there. T
Thankfully, Lorna kept me awake during the drive and we arrived safely.

After napping for awhile, we were famished so met our lovely daughter for lunch at a local tacqueria. Afterwards, we got a full tour of her new (for this year) apartment that she shares with 3 other young women.

We also toured her complex’s fitness and pool facilities.

Still feeling the need to nap, we headed back to the Airbnb for a few more winks before meeting up for dinner at the Smokin’ Pig – a very popular BBQ joint just a few minutes from where we were staying in Pendleton. W
When we checked in, we were told that there was a 2-hour wait for a table, so we decided to get takeout and bring it back to the Airbnb where we had lots of outdoor space.

Back at the Airbnb, we enjoyed a balmy evening eating southern BBQ.
