We begin our journey with a redeye on United Airlines from San Francisco to Atlanta, Georgia. My close friend Joe kindly offered to take us to the San Francisco Airport which saved us from requesting an expensive Uber.
Our ultimate destination for this first leg of the trip was Clemson, South Carolina where we will be driving from the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport to visit our daughter who is a junior there.
Charlotte, North Carolina is an alternative airport to fly into when traveling to Clemson as it’s about the same distance from both Atlanta and Charlotte to Clemson (about a 2 1/2 hour drive), but in this case, the airfare was significantly lower flying into Atlanta so we went that route.
A third option is to get a connecting flight into Greenville, South Carolina but it’s often faster just to drive from Atlanta or Charlotte considering the wait for the flight, flight time and the fact that Greenville is still a 45 minute drive to Clemson.

Our flight was scheduled to depart SFO at 10:30pm but was delayed about 40 minutes. It was a packed flight and everyone tried to get some shuteye during the 4 1/2 hour flight.
On to tomorrow!
