Today was our last day in Montreal. We needed to checkout of The David by 11 but our flight wasn’t until 6:50pm. So the hotel allowed us to store our bags in their office while we toured the city a little more.
The first order of business however … coffee!
The espresso machine in our hotel room brews a shot which we consume in a couple of sips in the tiny cups.

So onward I went down to the corner Couche-Tard (translation: Night Owl) which is the Canadian equivalent of 7-11 but with much better coffee products.

After storing our bags, we headed out with no particular destination in mind. We came to Place Jacques-Cartier which we’ve been to and through a few times in the last few days. One of the cool things are the several historical photos and paintings that are displayed on kiosks. Below are some of them…

The other day we’d poked our heads into Tommy’s, a cafe near the Basilica but it was way too full. Today, a little less so. We just wanted a coffee and to chill a little.

After our coffee, we walked around the city a bit more, including through Chinatown below, trying to find an access point to Underground Montreal.

We’d told the attendant at The David we’d be back by 3 to pick up our luggage. But first we popped into “Titanic” across the street from the hotel. It’s a place that our tour guide had recommended. It’s another of those interesting subterranean places, below ground level.

After picking up our bags, I hailed an Uber which picked us up quickly for the roughly 45 minute ride to the airport. Arriving at the airport, the check-in process was pretty seamless including passing through customs on this end which eliminated it once we arrived in San Francisco.

Fortunately, we were able to get a direct flight to San Francisco. The Air Canada plane was full but it was an uneventful 5 1/2 hour flight home.

In San Francisco, I hailed a Lyft to take us home. We were in our own bed by midnight. Great trip but it was nice to be home!
